• tune2fs manipulates ext2/3/4.

tune2fs -L LABEL FILESYSTEM

• Sets the filesystem label; 12 characters maximum.

tune2fs -l FILESYSTEM

• Displays information about the filesystem, including label and default mount options.

tune2fs -U OPTION FILESYSTEM

• Changes a filesystem label.

• tune2fs cannot restore a UUID to default automatically.

• tune2fs -U random DISK # generate a new UUID for the disk
